SANKTA HELENO, Jan 7 – Aaron Moran has been removed from his position as the Commissioner for Security after a historic vote of no confidence from the National People’s Council this evening. A similar motion of no confidence against the Presiding Officer of the NPC, Jacob Hassan was rejected. No statement has been given by Mr Moran, who, along with Hassan, is also facing a CSJS criminal investigation. According to the motion, Moran misled the NPC as to the extent of the People’s Security Committee’s security operation in Tigellêah, which began on New Year’s Eve, and also acted ultra vires in the initial deployment of the People’s Security Naval Force. The position is to remain vacant until the NPC is able to elect a replacement next Wednesday.
During todays sitting, Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, Daisy Morgan, also informed the NPC that as a result of three days of talks with King Boniface of Tigellêah, all Sovaĝo forces and personnel will be withdrawn from Tigellêah over the next 24 hours. Assurances have been made that referendums and constitutional reform will take place in the Kingdom over the next three weeks.
The NPC also approved two new laws – one establishing the International Solidarity and Cooperation Fund, and another setting limits on the amount of hours that Sovaĝo citizens/members can contribute to the Republic weekly. More details on these two matters are expected to be released in due course.
