SANKTA HELENO, Jan 1 – Sovaĝo forces are to remain in Tigellêah to provide “security assistance” after an outbreak of civil unrest in the Kingdom. The People’s Security Committee released a brief statement yesterday evening announcing the deployment of a contingent of the People’s Security Naval Force. During a special session of the National People’s Council this evening, the Commissioner for Security, Aaron Moran, briefed the NPC delegates on events of the last week. Moran was joined by the Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, Daisy Morgan, and the Presiding Officer of the NPC, Jacob Hassan.
Moran explained that the PSC received a request for assistance from a group styling itself as the “People’s Party of Tigellêah” on Tuesday evening after Tigellêahisc government forces suppressed a pro-democracy rally in the absolute monarchy’s capital Feormehâmburh. Initial attempts at contacting the Tigellêahisc government through diplomatic channels proved unsuccessful, prompting the deployment of the Naval Force yesterday morning to provide “security assistance”.
Hassan apologised to NPC delegates for not informing them before the decision to deploy was made, saying that the “dynamic situation” required an immediate response. Defending the constitutionality of the government’s response, Hassan assured the NPC that the PSC’s role in Tigellêah is as a “protective force to ensure public order”, and constitutes neither a declaration of war against the kingdom, nor a permanent military commitment. He voiced support for Moran’s decision to “authorise the temporary deployment of security forces in response to urgent circumstances”, and explained the order was given as an executive decision in accordance with the constitutional powers of the Commissioner for Security, and assured the NPC that the decision and any further action will be subject to review by the appropriate bodies.
Moran also provided a short summary of the current situation on the ground in Tigellêah, saying “A naval landing was conducted yesterday evening without incident, resulting in the establishment of a limited security presence at the port of Clammingen. Diplomatic engagement with the Tigellêahisc government is ongoing, and no hostile contact has been reported between Sovaĝo and Tigellêahisc forces.”
